OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ) — The City of Oshkosh is looking to its residents to help make an important decision.
Mark Rohloff has served as Oshkosh’s city manager for the last 16 years and will retire on January 3, 2025. The city is now working with a recruitment consultant, MGT, who is putting together the next steps in the process of recruiting a new city manager.
The city manager is the chief administrative officer of the city and reports to the common council. They are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the city, including appointment and supervision of all city staff, recommendation of policies, procedures and ordinances, and the development of the city’s budget for the common council’s consideration and approval.
Part of the hiring process includes having residents take an online survey to put together a profile to model the ideal city manager candidate.
“The survey asks about the type of management style they would like to see in a leader, the types of skills and abilities that are important to perform the work here in Oshkosh,” said Michelle Behnke, human resources manager for the City of Oshkosh. “It also asks about some challenges the city faces, as well as some of the positive trends in Oshkosh that they would like to see continue.”
The survey is available until October 3.
