GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Extensive revisions to the job description for the superintendent of the Green Bay Area Public Schools will be reviewed Monday by the school board, as it ramps up the process of replacing Claude Tiller.
Tiller resigned from the position in February, after comments he made on an Atlanta radio program stirred controversy. He had been in the position less than a year. Vicki Bayer has been the interim superintendent since then.
The board still has not taken any action on filling the position, however, and that is not on Monday’s agenda. The job is not listed on the district’s open positions page. Also, it has not yet decided if to use a search firm to assist in the process.
Monday’s agenda calls for the school board to review updated job descriptions for nine positions, including for the superintendent.
The proposed version keeps the same qualifications, but includes wholesale re-writes of eight job “standards” and adds two.
For example, instead of “Strategic Leadership and District Culture,” that standard is now called “Mission, Vision, and Core Values.” The eight ‘indicators’ of that goal have all been stricken, with new job descriptions.
The document notes the most recent revisions for the superintendent’s job description were made in 2017. These updates are “derived from the National Policy Board for Educational Administration” and Wisconsin statutes.
The school board meets at 6 p.m. Monday in room 331 of the district office building, 200 S. Broadway.
