BRILLION, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A concerning image on social media brought forth by a Brillion middle school student was found to be originated from a student in California.
The Brillion School District said the student shared with them a concerning image they saw of a different individual’s Snapchat story which depicted a picture of yet another individual’s Snapchat story that referenced a vague shooting threat that did not reference Brillion or any school at all.
The Brillion police department was able to identify the author of the image resides and attends school in California.
Brillion police made contact with the officials from the school in California and confirmed the threat was unsubstantiated.
There was no direct threat or speculation of a threat toward any Brillion students or schools at any time.
The district wrote, “We appreciate the student coming forward with the image and continue to encourage those within our school community if they hear or see something suspicious to report it immediately.”
This comes one day after the Brillion School District canceled classes Wednesday after receiving a shooting threat from an individual identified only as a female juvenile.
