(GREEN BAY COMMUNICATIONS) GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Green Bay men’s soccer team continued its winning ways on a scorching hot Tuesday afternoon, downing the Parkside Rangers 2-1. GB scored two unanswered for the victory.
The win boosted Green Bay’s record to 6-2-0 overall while Parkside fell to 2-1-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Phoenix had its first opportunity of the day in the 7th minute on a shot by Tony Manciu but it was too high. A few moments later, Parkside tried to convert on a corner kick but came up empty. Myles Sophanavong recorded the first shot on goal of the contest in the 20th minute, but former Phoenix goalkeeper and current Rangers GK Daniyal Rana notched the save. Parkside kept the pressure on and cracked open the scoring in the 25th minute on Paco Piscaglia’s goal. Manciu nearly answered minutes later with a shot on goal but Rana saved it again. Andrew Paolucci entered the match in the 32nd minute and made an immediate impact, scoring his third goal of the season in the 38th minute. His effort helped knot the game at 1-1 going into halftime.

Green Bay had a couple of chances early in the second frame but came up empty. It wasn’t until the 62nd minute when the Green and White began to pounce, first on Oscar Bjorsnkov’s shot. Manciu clanked a shot off the crossbar before Bjornskov found the back of the net on the ricochet, marking his first career goal. Parkside had a corner kick in the minutes following Bjornskov’s goal but had no shots in the final 36 minutes as Green Bay won its sixth straight game, 2-1 over Parkside.
