KAUKAUNA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The driver of a car at the Wisconsin International Raceway has died after a collision with a concrete barrier at the track’s drag strip on Saturday afternoon.
According to a press release from the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office, around 3:40 Saturday, emergency responders were called to WIR in the town of Buchanan for a car crash with injuries.
“On arrival of emergency responders, it was found that a vehicle using the drag strip had struck a concrete bridge rail and the driver was ejected from the vehicle into a ditch near the track,” the release states.
Officials say the driver of the car was a 65-year-old Outagamie County man, who died at the scene.
No other information is being released at this time, per Outagmie County officials.
