OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — An Illinois resident was allegedly behind a bomb threat at a Walmart store in Oshkosh.
Just before 6:30 p.m. Sunday, the Oshkosh Police Department was notified of a bomb threat at Walmart located at 351 S. Washburn Street.
After receiving the threat, the store immediately evacuated staff and customers. Officers assisted the store with shutting down entrances and assisting employees.
Once the store was evacuated, an explosive detecting K9 from the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office assisted along with other officers and employees in checking the business for suspicious items.
Once the building was deemed safe and the threat no longer credible, the business resumed normal operation.
Detectives and officers were able to track down a potential suspect residing in Illinois. An agency in Illinois made contact with the suspect.
The investigation is ongoing.
