NEENAH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A groundbreaking ceremony was held Tuesday to celebrate the newest Boys & Girls Club in the Fox Valley.
Officials hope construction of the Neenah location will be complete in July 2025, with plans to start serving you that the beginning of the 2025-26 school year.
The new club is being built at2060 Marathon Avenue, nestled at the northwest corner of Byrd and Marathon avenues. It will be the 16th club location in the Fox Valley family, which supports youth in Outagamie, Calumet, Northern Winnebago and Manitowoc counties.
Spanning 35,000 square feet, the Boys & Girls Club of Neenah will serve more than 1,000 children and their families each year. Features will include a Life & Workforce Readiness Center, dance studio, sensory room, trio of learning centers, family conference room, dining area, playground, full-scale gymnasium, modern teen lounge and state-of-the-art Makers Lab.
Greg Lemke-Rochon, CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Fox Valley, said getting this project off the ground took several years, but the new club will make an immediate difference once it is up and running.
“Young people need to be and feel safe. They need ready access to life-enhancing opportunities. And most importantly, they need connections and relationships with caring adults,” Lemke-Rochon said. “When we put those kinds of structures and foundational pieces in place for kids, they grow and they thrive and they do super, super well.”
We know that our club members do better in school and engage at a lower level in risky behaviors. We know that their lives are more about their potential than about their limitations.
Community leaders and club supporters have already committed more than $11 million to the project. Fundraising efforts are ongoing to cover the total cost of the new club in Neenah, which will exceed $15 million. To make a donation, click here.
