MADISON, WI (WRN) – Telemarketing calls were once again the top consumer complaint filed with the state last year.
For many years, those complaints were from businesses violating the do not call list.
That’s changed though, according Division of Consumer Protection Administrator Michelle Reinen.
“There’s still some of that, we are seeing scam artists enters consumer’s homes through the telephone line.”
Also in the top five were complaints about landlords, telecommunications companies, identity theft, and home improvement services.
Reinen says many of those issues come down to people not understanding the terms of contracts or other service agreements.
“Get the terms and conditions, regardless of the transaction they’re entering into in writing.”
New to the top ten this year were complaints about medical services and the quality of fuel bought at gas stations.
