GRAND CHUTE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Hungry Fox Valley residents turned out to help military veterans on Wednesday.
Appleton American Legion Post 38 extended the hours of its weekly brat fry to raise money for Old Glory Honor Flight.
The post’s goal was to top the $6,500 raised at the 2023 event. This year’s “Brat Fry Extravaganza” raised $7,500, Legion members say.
Old Glory Honor Flight takes veterans to Washington, D.C, to visit monuments to wars they served in. Each flight includes a volunteer medical team and trained escorts, along with professional photographers.
Special missions have taken veterans to Vietnam and Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
American Legion Post 38’s weekly brat fry events take place on Wednesdays from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Legion grounds, 3220 W. College Ave.
