SUSSEX, WI (MetroSource-WSAU) Amazon is planning to expand in southeast Wisconsin. The online retail giant says it will create 364 jobs under a plan to lease a warehouse in Sussex and operate it as a 24-hour a day delivery center.
The building had been leased for the last ten years by Quad/Graphics for paper storage and previously was used by Huffy to make basketball hoops.
Amazon is not seeking any financial incentives from the community to expand the facility. The jobs created there will pay between $11.75 and $13.25.
The local planning board will review the expansion at their March 20 meeting.
Filings by Amazon with the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation indicate the company had created over 3,700 jobs in Kenosha and Milwaukee at the end of 2016. Milwaukee was one of nearly 200 cities that put proposals forward for a second Amazon corporate campus in North America. The city did not make the list of finalists.
