FOND DU LAC COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A teenager is in custody after a traffic stop in Fond du Lac County resulted in the seizure of drug-laced snacks and candy.
According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy stopped the teen’s vehicle Monday for an equipment violation. However, the deputy “soon suspected there was something more to the story and requested a K9.”
Officials say K9 Rip alerted authorities to the presence of drugs in the vehicle and a search was conducted.
Inside a box that had just been shipped from Oregon to Wisconsin was more than a pound of snacks and other items infused with psilocybin mushrooms, or THC.
As you can see by the colorful packaging, these products are designed and packaged to appeal to younger populations. With no form of food testing or regulation, there’s no way to know the true content of these products, all of which are considered dangerous for children.
The Sheriff’s Office is reminding parents to educate their children about the dangers of consuming “snacks” and “candy” that come from unknown sources.
The vehicle’s driver, an 18-year-old male from Madison, was arrested on various drug-related charges and taken to the Fond du Lac County Jail.
