GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Planning is still very much in the works across the Green Bay area for the 2025 NFL Draft, including in the Military Avenue Business District, which will be near the draft’s rough footprint.
Military Avenue Business District Director Leah Weycker calls Military Avenue the city’s best kept secret.
“We have a lot of startup businesses and a lot of people trying out restaurants, a lot of ethnic diverse restaurants,” said Weycker.
With roughly 240,000 people estimated to be here for the 2025 Draft, Military Avenue’s Business District wants to attract visitors to the area’s variety of restaurants and retail locations.
“We had money set aside to do some things like banners. We’re going to change out our banners and really try to identify why people would come here,” said Weycker.
The Military Avenue Business District also plans on utilizing it’s winter Market on Military during the draft.
Inside Bay Family Restaurant, located on Military Avenue just one mile away from Lambeau Field, it was business as usual Monday. But behind the scenes, they’re looking into future plans for the draft, which could include menu and hour changes.
“We haven’t gotten that far yet to decide what the hours will be or if we’ll stay open later, close earlier — that we haven’t decided yet,” said Michelle Ebben, a server at Bay Family Restaurant.
At the neighboring Bay Motel, manager Sarah Marchand says they still have rooms available for the draft.
“Most of them are available still for the draft,” said Marchand. “Right now, we’re just working on getting those reservations in and making sure that we’re pretty well stacked for what we need when the time comes.”
Transportation remains a top concern, and talks continue on a possible transit system in town.
