FOND DU LAC COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Authorities are seeking the public’s assistance identifying a speeding motorcyclist who evaded law enforcement twice on the same day.
Shortly after 7 p.m. Saturday, a deputy with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office attempted a traffic stop on a motorcycle for a speed violation. It happened northbound on State Highway 175 near Fox Ridge Drive in the town of Fond du Lac.
When the motorcycle did not stop for the deputy, the incident escalated into a high-speed pursuit that lasted for approximately six miles.
As the Deputy attempted to catch up to the motorcycle, the suspect turned on to STH 151 and increased its speed to 130 miles per hour on STH 151 southbound. The Deputy did have his emergency lights and siren activated. The suspect utilized a median crossover on STH 151 to continue to evade the Deputy, and then continued on STH 151 northbound and exited on to Hickory St. The suspect continued on to Hickory Rd southbound in to the Town of Byron with speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour.
Officials say the deputy terminated the pursuit at Hickory Road and County Highway B. The suspect was last seen on County Highway B westbound approaching County Highway D.
The Sheriff’s Office believes this motorcycle also eluded a deputy at County Highways F and W in the town of Eden around 1 p.m. Saturday.
The motorcycle is described as similar to a Yamaha MT-09. It is black in color with red accents and red/orange rims. The operator was wearing dark clothing, a dark colored helmet and a backpack.
