TOWN OF HARTLAND, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — One person was killed and another sent to the hospital as a result of a crash in Shawano County Sunday.
Sheriff’s officials say the crash happened just before 1 p.m. on Highway 29, just west of Highway F.
Investigators say a vehicle was leaving a business on the south side of the highway but did not clear the intersection. That vehicle was hit by an eastbound vehicle on the rear driver’s side. Both vehicles ended up in the median.
The driver of the vehicle that was leaving the business was taken to the hospital, but is expected to survive. The passenger in that vehicle died at the hospital. Sheriff’s officials say she was an 80-year-old woman from the Shawano area. She was not wearing a seat belt, investigators say.
Her name has not been released.
No one in the vehicle that was traveling east on 29 was injured.
Sheriff’s officials are still investigating the crash.
