(UW COMMUNICATIONS) – The Wisconsin men’s hockey program looks to build on the momentum it created during the 2024 NCAA Tournament season when it officially opens the 2024-25 campaign on Friday, Oct. 11 against Lindenwood at the Kohl Center.
The Badgers, who went 26-12-2 in head coach Mike Hastings’ first year behind the bench, welcome Lindenwood for a pair on Oct. 11 and 12.
That marks one of five non-conference weekends.
UW takes a trip to defending NCAA champion Denver two weeks later, skating at the Pioneers on Oct. 25-26.
The Badgers also play host to Alaska Anchorage the weekend of Thanksgiving on Nov. 29-30, and skate at the Kwik Trip Holiday Face-Off at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee in late December.
UW will meet Ferris State in one Holiday Face-Off semifinal on Saturday, Dec. 28 at 5 p.m., then either UConn or Alaska on Sunday, Dec. 29 at 5 p.m. in either the championship or consolation game, depending on Saturday results. The first game both days begins at 1:30 p.m. (TICKETS)
Wisconsin closes out non-conference play with a Kohl Center series against the LIU Sharks on Jan. 17-18.
As announced earlier, the Badgers will play their first opponent of the season on Saturday, Oct. 5, an exhibition contest at Omaha. That day, the Mavericks will officially name their Baxter Arena home ice after their first head coach, Mike Kemp, who served as a UW assistant coach during the 1980s and 1990s.
The Badgers skated to a 26-12-2 mark last season and posted their highest win total since the 2010 NCAA runners-up season.
UW returns 20-point scorers Simon Tassy, Ben Dexheimer, Christian Fitzgerald and Owen Lindmark, as well as a trio of double-digit goal scorers in Tassy, Lindmark and Quinn Finley. In all, 14 skaters return from last season, while 12 newcomers join the Badgers, including Cody Laskosky, Rylan Mosley and Kyle Kukkonen, who each have posted at least one double-digit goal-scoring season at the NCAA level.
