GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – With Packers training camp kicking off Monday morning and the annual shareholders meeting Monday afternoon, it’s starting to feel a lot more like football season in Titletown.
“The Packers is just a different team than any place else,” said Patty Gann, a shareholder from Texas.
The gates at Ray Nitschke Field are opening to welcome Green Bay Packers players and fans for the 2024 season. Training camp consists of eight open practices in 10 days to close out the month of July.
Kids got their first chance Monday to pedal with the pros down DreamDrive, giving players a lift to practice on their bikes.
Some fans come for the shareholders meeting, while others to see what shape the team is in for the season.
“At the beginning when I started to root for Green Bay, it was the Green Bay Packers. It was the game, Lambeau Field, and being there. It’s changed a little bit to still going to attend games, but now it’s also visiting friends and through the years, I have made a lot of really good friendships,” said Matthias Kraus, known as “The German Packer.”
Many people say they love the community the Packers create and the friendships that last a lifetime.
“Everyone here is so friendly. I just love Green Bay. For me, it’s the Mecca for cheeseheads,” Gann said.
