MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The once-delayed plea hearing for Katrina Baur – the mother of missing 3-year-old Elijah Vue – may be postponed again.
Baur faces four counts, including chronic neglect of a child and neglecting a child.
A plea deal was expected to be held last Thursday, but defense attorney Ann Larson said there were two items needing additional investigation, so the hearing was rescheduled for this coming Friday, July 26.
However, in a letter to the court Monday, Larson asked for another delay, citing a scheduling conflict.
Prosecutors have not replied to the motion, and Judge Robert DeWane has not acted on it.
Baur left her son with Jesse Vang. Vang reported the child missing Feb. 20. Despite extensive searches, the boy has not been found.
Vang and Baur were charged a week after Vue’s disappearance with child neglect charges related to the conditions of the home and treatment of the boy. Prosecutors say she left her son with her boyfriend, Jesse Vang, at his Two Rivers apartment, for “disciplinary reasons.”
No one has been charged in connection with the boy’s disappearance. Vang returns to court Sept. 27 for a status conference; no trial date has been set.
