MARINETTE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The search continues for Bill Salnik, who has been missing since his sailboat, “My Lady Blue,” capsized last weekend.
The 32-year-old, along with his two children, went missing last weekend after leaving Green Island near Marinette. They were heading to Oconto.
Their capsized sailboat was found south of Chambers Island Monday morning. Just before noon that day, the bodies of his kids, 5-year-old Charlotte Salnik and 3-year-old Joshua Salnik, were recovered from the Bay, too. Both kids were wearing life jackets.
Sunday morning, dozens of volunteers continued their search for the missing father. They organized at Red Arrow Park in Marinette.
The search included dive crews, planes, and dogs, all searching different areas.
For Bill’s friends, they want the public to keep searching.
“If we can’t find him today, we can find him another day. Don’t give up and just cover as much as you can be safe on the water if you are out today. Don’t push yourself if you aren’t feeling comfortable definitely turn back, we don’t expect you to do anything you haven’t already done,” said friend Mike Bazola.
Police also continue their search for the missing boater, and have said they have no plans to suspend search operations.
