MENASHA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) visited the Fox Valley Wednesday to highlight a large investment supporting workforce development.
During her stop in Menasha, Baldwin celebrated the more than $4.6 million in funds secured in last year’s government funding legislation that to grow Wisconsin’s skilled workforce. Fox Valley’s Workforce Development Board will use the money, in partnership with six other workforce development boards across the state, to serve over 500 people.
Baldwin says the money will benefit local employers and businesses and expand opportunities for job seekers to get the necessary training to obtain good-paying jobs. The funds will also support new approaches to re-engage individuals who are out of work and help them access training, upskilling and job services.
“In Wisconsin, we’re building an economy that works for everyone, not just those at the top,” said Baldwin.
By investing in workforce training, we can help folks get the education and experience they need to unlock new opportunities in good-paying careers. I was proud to secure this funding to help ensure folks have the tools and resources they need to land a job that provides them stability, supports their families, and contributes to our Made in Wisconsin economy for years to come.
On Wednesday, Baldwin also visited Wausau to meet with law enforcement and public safety leaders from Marathon County, where they discussed their collaborative efforts to combat the opioid and fentanyl crisis in Wisconsin.
