WAUPACA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A Larrabee man faces reckless homicide and sexual assault charges after allegedly causing a person’s death during a sexual encounter.
Darwin Huebner Sr., 70, made an initial court appearance earlier this month, where a $2 million cash bond was set on second-degree reckless homicide and second-degree sexual assault of an intoxicated victim charges. A balance of initial appearance is planned for Tuesday.
He also faces three counts of possession of child pornography, which were charged separately. A preliminary hearing is set for June 19 in that case.
In the reckless homicide case, police were called to the Larrabee home on April 8 for a report of a death.
According to the criminal complaint, Huebner said he met the victim through an online dating app. They met at a hotel, then returned to his house. The victim then drank whiskey and took several drugs.
At that point, the two engaged in acting out what Huebner described as sexual fantasies, which included toys, choking, and an electronic stun device.
Huebner told police he fell asleep around 2 a.m., waking up at 7 a.m., and noticing the victim was unresponsive, when he called 911. However, police searched his phone and discovered a series of calls, texts and videos during that five-hour window – including a text at 6:03 a.m. stating “Call me ASAP. It’s an emergency,” the complaint states.
