APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A fire caused by a food smoker in a commercial building in Appleton was quickly extinguished.
Around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, crews were dispatched to a structure fire in the 100 block of N. Walnut Street.
Upon arrival, crews found smoke in the building and flames contained to the food smoker. Firefighters brought the fire under control within five minutes.
No one was hurt and crews are working to determine a cause.
There is no estimate for damage to building and contents.
The Appleton Fire Department would like to remind residents to practice safe cooking. Ensure cooking appliances are clean and in proper working order, and never leave cooking unattended.
