SUAMICO, WI (WTAQ) — The Suamico Fire Department as a new tool in their toolbox.
Suamico Fire Chief, Joe Bertler, says they’ve been working to get a new search and rescue boat like this for years. It features navigational systems and
a thermal imaging camera.
“That allows us to see infrared pictures at night and even during the day,” said Bertler. “So if somebody is in the Bay of Green Bay, we can pick them out a lot easier.”
The new addition is thanks to an anonymous donor couple; who gave $250 thousand for the boat.
The Suamico Fire Department anticipates using the boat to help other agencies, like Green Bay Metro Fire, Brown County Sheriff’s Office, etc. on searches.
