APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) — After the Green Bay Packers released their schedule for next year, airports are looking at plans for flights for away games.
Appleton International Airport director, Jesse Funk, says the airlines find out the schedule at the same time as everybody else.
While he usually encourages people to get their plane tickets as soon as possible…
“It might be best to give the airlines at least a couple days to do some scheduling,” said Funk. “By early next week Monday or Tuesday, you should see a complete schedule that would have any additional flights for any of the NFL cities.”
The season opener with the Green Bay Packers vs. Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil was announced in April; and ATW has been working on that, too.
“We talked to American Airlines about the possibility of having a Miami flight, ATW to Miami, to help with the connectivity to São Paulo, but we’re still awaiting word on that,” said Funk.
Last year Appleton International Airport saw a lot of interest in the Packers game in Las Vegas; so far this year they’ve also heard a lot of buzz about the away game in Nashville.
