Oshkosh Arena PC: Fox 11 Online
OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The owners of the for-sale Oshkosh Arena are behind on property tax payments. So far, more than $300,000 is overdue, with another payment due at the end of the month, city records show.
Fox Valley Pro Basketball listed the 4,600-seat arena for sale earlier this year with a listing on LoopNet. No asking price is listed. The venue at 1212 S. Main St. is best known for being home of the NBA G-League team the Wisconsin Herd, but it hosts other events and concerts, as well.
According to online Oshkosh records, two property tax payments have been missed this year: Jan. 31 for $148,946.63, and March 31 for $148,946.58. With interest, Fox Valley Pro Basketball now owes $321,724.66. Similar payments are due May 31 and July 31.
The arena has had financial issues previously, filing for bankruptcy in 2019. It was also sued for unpaid construction costs and legal bills. The arena was shut down briefly last summer due to code violations.
Meanwhile, the City of Oshkosh continues to monitor the potential sale. The Common Council met in closed session Tuesday to discuss “bargaining options, strategy, parameters, and terms related to potential assignment and amendment of the City’s Development Agreement with Fox Valley Pro Basketball, Inc. to prospective purchasers of property located at 1212 South Main Street in the City of Oshkosh.”
A city spokesman says no action was taken, and the city isn’t commenting at this time about the possible sale.
