MENASHA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Menasha All City Grade School Track and Field Wellness Day returned for its 48th year Tuesday.
The event at Calder Stadium is for all third-, fourth- and fifth-grade students from the private and public schools. Students were able to participate in traditional track events as well as other novelty events such as hula hoop endurance and the frisbee throw.
When asked why the event is important, event coordinator John Breaker said, “the kids need to feel good about being active. If they can find something where they can stay active, they’re going to have a good chance at reasonable health for a long time.”
The Wellness Day is organized as a joint effort between the City of Menasha Park and Recreation Department and the elementary physical education teachers in the Menasha Joint School District. The City of Menasha Health Department also provides support for the event.
