MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) – The Milwaukee School of Engineering is looking for its first new president in two dozen years.
Hermann Viets first told the school’s Board of Regents last summer that he’ll be calling it a career. Now, MSOE has announced a national search committee to find a new president.
The 71-year-old Viets plans to retire June 30th. He joined the school in 1991, after serving as the dean of engineering at the University of Rhode Island.
The Milwaukee School of Engineering has about 2,800 students. It expanded numerous facilities and added several degree programs under Viets’ tenure.
An athletic field on the campus was recently named in his honor.
