GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Brown County’s assistant district attorney, Democrat Ryan Spaude, has announced his bid for the 89th Assembly district, which covers the west side of Green Bay and Ashwaubenon.
A release from Spaude on Saturday announced the campaign.
“I’m running because I know there are way too many families in the Green Bay area who are hurting. Yes the stock market is going up, and yes inflation is coming down. But there are still way too many people around here who are struggling.”
Spaude’s stated priorities include holding the line on taxes for the middle class, investing more money into public schools, raising the minimum wage, fully funding the Child Care Counts Program and expanding Medicaid in the state.
“We can do so much to help working families if we elect new leadership down in Madison,” the release states.
Spaude’s personal focus as an assistant DA is prosecuting drunk drivers. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Princeton University and his law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School.
Before the state drew new legislative maps, Assembly District 89 encompassed the northeastern part of Brown County, including portions of the village of Howard and the Town of Suamico, along with the eastern half of Oconto County and Marinette County.New legislative maps show District 89 will cover the west side of Green Bay and Ashwaubenon.
