GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Two communities in Brown County are being recognized for their high voter turnout in last week’s election.
The village of Allouez and the town of Rockland were awarded trophies Thursday for winning the Project VOTE of Brown County, WI Voter Challenge. Officials say these municipalities recorded the highest voter turnout percentages in their respective categories for the election on April 2, 2024.
Rockland’s turnout of 47.7% of registered voters was the highest among the communities in the “Green Division” which includes Brown County municipalities with populations under 10,000.
38.3% of registered voters in Allouez was the best in the “Gold Division” which is made up of municipalities in Brown County with populations over 10,000.
Project VOTE of Brown County holds its Voter Challenge each election to increase informed voter turnout throughout the county.
“We are an issues-neutral, non-partisan organization,” explained Glen Tilot, co-founder and chair of Project VOTE of Brown County. “We don’t endorse political parties, candidates or issues and we rely solely on donations and sponsorships to support our ‘get out the vote’ effort.”
It’s always vitally important for people to take the time and effort to learn about the candidates and the issues and participate in the election process. With the spring nonpartisan election and presidential primary now behind us, we look forward to seeing what the turnout will be in November when we head to the polls for the presidential election.
This marks the fourth Voter Challenge victory for Rockland and the seventh for Allouez.
