(WTAQ-WLUK) — An Oshkosh man and convicted sex offender was indicted Tuesday on federal child pornography charges.
Court documents allege that in mid-January, 27-year-old Dakota DeGroot was found to be in possession of electronic files containing child pornography. He was convicted in Winnebago County Circuit Court in 2016 for possessing child pornography.
As a repeat offender, if DeGroot is convicted, he faces up to 20 years in federal prison with a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years. He could also be fined up to $250,000 and would continue to be required to register as a sex offender.
