FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — As the need for its services continues to grow, a food pantry in Fond du Lac is marking the completion of a major building renovation.
Fondy Food Pantry held an open house and ribbon cutting Wednesday to celebrate its newly-completed renovation project.
Cindy Taylor, president of the Fondy Food Pantry Board of Directors, said the updates include the addition of a walk-in freezer and a walk-in cooler.
It allows us to take in more refrigerated products and/or frozen products so that we have more food on hand to better meet the needs of our families each week. We never know how many people are going to come through the door, and so if we run out, then obviously that’s not a good thing. Now we can have more food in storage for families, so no matter how busy we are, we have enough food.
Taylor said these renovations were made possible by grants and donations from the public. Officials say the pantry is “serving an increasing number of clients” in Fond du Lac County.
“The need for assistance has never been greater. Our facilities have been updated to accommodate this growth as we continue to provide resources to our community,” a statement reads.
If you’re in need of the Fondy Food Pantry’s services, you can register online or visit the pantry in-person to get signed up.
