MADISON, Wis. (WSAU) — The VA system is dealing with a problem that has nothing to do with Tomah or prescription drugs. A 23-year-old former employee at the VA Hospital and Clinics in Madison is accused of stealing the identities of patients by taking their checking account numbers.
Elizabeth Feng of Madison is no longer a lab technician at the Madison facility. Investigators say Feng used the checking and VA account information to obtain credit cards illegally.
An investigation began nearly a year ago after Feng’s boyfriend tried to pay Madison Police for parking tickets, and he was told to pay in cash because of fraudulent payments previously made for the same car.
Police have issued a warrant for Feng’s arrest. She’s charged with identity theft, misdemeanor theft and unauthorized opening of mail.
