GREEN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) – A pilot who crash-landed his small plane in far southern Wisconsin was identified by authorities Tuesday as 33-year-old Alvin Thoreson of Fairmont Minnesota.
Officials said he escaped injury when his twin-engine Beechcraft lost power, and struck electric wires as he tried landing the craft on a Green County highway south of Juda.
The plane was headed from the Chicago area to the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport when it went down early Monday evening.
About 320 Alliant Energy customers lost their power when the lines went down. Most customers had their electricity back by late Monday night, and the rest were back online by Tuesday morning.
The FAA is investigating to find out why the plane lost power.
