GREENVILLE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — An intersection safety improvement project is set to begin later this month in Outagamie County.
Roundabout construction is scheduled to start April 15 at the intersection of WIS 76 and School Road in Greenville. It will be closed and detoured until the $2.6 million project is completed in August.
Currently, the WIS 76/School Road intersection is a two-way stop control intersection with two-lane rural roads all each of the four legs of the intersection. A multi-use trail crosses the west leg of School Road and runs south within the right-of-way on the west side of the south leg of WIS 76.
A single-lane roundabout was selected as the best alternative to improve safety at the intersection. There will be single-lane entries on the east, west and south legs, and the north leg entry will consist of a combination through/left lane and a right turn lane.
Additional project enhancements include:
- New pavement structure
- Lighting
- Culvert/storm sewer replacement
- Curb and gutter
- Signing and pavement marking
- Pedestrian accommodations at the intersection
- Sidewalk on School Road east of WIS 76
The detour route follows WIS 96, County CB and WIS 15. Access to property owners and businesses within project limits, in addition to the town of Greenville trail, will be maintained throughout construction.
Funding for this project comes from a Highway Safety Improvement Program grant from the Federal Highway Administration.
