(WTAQ-WLUK) — Three Northeast Wisconsin businesses are receiving federal grants aimed at improving their energy efficiency.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced $2.2 million in grants to 23 farms and businesses across the state on Friday. The money comes from the Rural Energy for America Program.
In Northeast Wisconsin, Dairyland Biogas LLC in New Franken is receiving $500,000 to install energy efficiency equipment on its anaerobic digester. The addition is expected to save the business $115,796 per year and replace 88% of its annual energy needs.
In Pembine, Lange Bros Woodwork Company is receiving $174,250 to install a solar array. It is expected to save the business $10,917 per year and cover 80% of the business’ energy use.
Caledonia Corral LLC in Fremont is receiving $15,523 to install a small solar electric array. It is expected to save the business $2,600 per year and replace 100% of its energy needs.
