TOMAH, WI (WTAQ) – Up to 10 people will testify before congressional leaders next Monday on the quality of care at the Tomah VA Medical Center.
The list of witnesses was announced Monday afternoon for a proceeding that begins at 1 p.m. next Monday at the Cranberry Country Lodge in Tomah.
The hearing was called amid reports of over-prescriptions at the Veterans’ Administration hospital in Tomah, and alleged punishments against those trying to expose the problems.
Chief whistleblower and former center employee Ryan Honl is expected to testify along with pharmacy doctor Noelle Johnson. Also to speak are Candace Delis and Heather and Marvin Simcakoski, relatives of two people whose deaths at the center have raised concerns.
Five VA officials will make up a second panel to testify — including the agency’s undersecretary for health, Carolyn Clancy, center director Mario V. DeSanctis — and assistant inspector general John Daigh.
