CHILTON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The city of Chilton unveiled its new police department and city hall.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Monday at 42 School Road in Chilton to show off the new 15,600 square-foot remodel.
It includes additional security features, windows, technology, lighting upgrades and garage facilities for the police department.
Chilton administrator, David DeTroye, says the new modern facility was not a want but a need. Most of the building had not been renovated since 1999 and some parts of the building are about 100 years old.
“I would say one of the major points of the common council is that we need to continue to modernize. It’s not just city hall and our police and fire and emergency services but are working in our parks systems, our watershed, we are working on housing, we are doing everything in our power to attract,” De Troye said.
Last year, Chilton completed its new fire department and a $20 million referendum that passed allowed for a new athletic facility and other upgrades in the school district.
