MANITOWOC COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — After seeing search efforts renewed, volunteers were back out searching for a missing three-year-old boy from Two Rivers.
On Thursday, about 70 teams of drone operators were seen searching in the Shoto area of Manitowoc County for Elijah Vue.
Volunteer searchers focused their efforts on the Rahr Memorial School Forest in Manitowoc County Friday morning.
They say Thursday’s coordinated drone effort by law enforcement provided a spark for them to come out and look for Elijah.
“Hopefully this renewed sense of interest will help spur more help and add that we can bring this to an end soon,” said Craig Barnett of Manitowoc.
Vue disappeared more than a month ago from a residence in Two Rivers. An Amber Alert was subsequently issued.
As long as Elijah remains missing, the community will continue searching, and hope others join the cause.
“It’s a three year old little boy, I can’t sleep at night knowing that he’s not found yet,” said Veronica Blackmon.
Local, state and federal authorities, including community volunteers, have searched areas throughout Northeast Wisconsin to find the child. Earlier in the investigation, the child’s blanket was found along Goodwin Road in the town of Manitowoc.
On Friday, volunteers focused their search efforts in the Rahr Memorial School Forest area.
Anything found that may be related to the case should be reported by calling 1-844-267-6648 or through Manitowoc County Crime Stoppers online.
Police have asked the public to check surveillance cameras for video of a beige Nissan Altima that may be connected to the case.
Rewards totaling $40,000 are being offered in the case.
Elijah Vue is described as having dark blond hair and brown eyes. He is about three feet tall, weighs about 45 pounds and has a birthmark on his left knee.
Meanwhile, Vue’s mother, Katrina Baur, and her boyfriend, Jesse Vang – who was caring for Vue and reported him missing – face chronic child neglect charges but are not charged in his disappearance.
