MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) – One of two Wisconsin ferry boats that cross Lake Michigan is starting its 12th season Friday.
The Lake Express Ferry began its first trip of the year from Muskegon Michigan to Milwaukee.
It takes about two-and-a-half hours to cross the big lake, at an average speed of 40 miles an hour. The Lake Express is making two trips per day now, and they’ll add a third daily trip in the summer.
The ferry can hold 46 motor vehicles and 12 motorcycles per run.
For those who don’t want to bring their own vehicles, rental counters are available at the terminals on both ends of the lake.
