FOND DU LAC COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Being late for curfew isn’t an excuse for excessive speed. That is the message the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office is sending to young drivers.
In a recent Facebook post, the Sheriff’s Office described a traffic stop in which a deputy pulled over a vehicle traveling 104 miles per hour in a 40 miles per hour residential zone through Marytown.
The driver, whose age was not specified, told the deputy he was speeding because he was late for curfew.
We suspect breaking curfew now pales in comparison to the speeding violation, and our goal of highway safety is to always get you home safe and sound…even if it means a bit past curfew because you followed the speed limit.
Law enforcement is using this incident as a reminder to young drivers that breaking curfew “is not worth risking your life and the lives of others.”
