GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The best-of-seven finals of “Jeopardy!” Tournament of Champions is all tied up 1-1 & 1.
Ben Chan, a Green Bay native and philosophy professor at St. Norbert College, is one of three contestants remaining in the game show’s most prestigious contest.
Chan, a nine-game champion, won Tuesday’s game in dramatic fashion, squeaking out a $1 victory in Final Jeopardy. Six-game champion Troy Meyer won Wednesday and three-game champion Yogesh Raut won Thursday.
Chan rose to local celebrity status during his nearly double-digit win streak last spring, amassing a nine-day total of more than $250,000.
He is set to throw out the first pitch at the April 27 Milwaukee Brewers game. The state Assembly even honored his “Jeopardy!” success last month with a joint resolution adopted unanimously.
Chan has been praised for his dedication to giving back to his community, using his “Jeopardy!” winnings to support local organizations focused on mental health, addiction counseling and public park initiatives.
He earned himself a spot in the best-of-seven Tournament of Champions finals with victories in the quarterfinals and semifinals earlier this month. It’s a best-of-seven match, so the first contestant to win three games will be declared the victor.
“Jeopardy!” Tournament of Champions continues Friday on FOX 11. However, due to the Big East College Basketball Tournament, “Jeopardy!” will air at 3:30 p.m. instead of its normal 6 p.m. Wheel of Fortune will air at 4 p.m.
