FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Marian University president Michelle Majewski plans to retire.
Majewski has led the school since April 2020, when she was hired as acting president after having previously retired in 2018. She was appointed president in November 2020.
“I have been at Marian University for 37 years in roles from faculty to president and I have relished my time here, supporting students, faculty and staff,” Majewski said in a statement. “But my husband retired several years ago and I am looking forward to joining him as we begin the next chapter in our lives.”
During her tenure, Majewski was credited with raising $12.1 million to retire the university’s debt in 2021, increasing financial stability by reducing staffing and eliminating some programs in 2023, overseeing renovation of the new nursing space, and launching new programs such as construction management and risk management and insurance, and relaunching a graduate program in organizational leadership.
Majewski has spent 37 years at Marian as a faculty member, chairperson, dean and professor emerita.
She plans to stay in her position until a successor is hired.
