FOX CROSSING, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A fire in a chicken coop spread to a detached garage in Fox Crossing, resulting in a total loss.
It happened Tuesday around 4:40 p.m. in the 800 block of Brookfield Drive. According to the Fox Crossing Fire Department, crews were dispatched for a report of “a chicken coop that was on fire, spreading to a detached garage.”
Smoke and flames were visible from the three-car garage when firefighters arrived on scene. “Due to the high winds, fire engulfed the entire detached garage,” officials said.
Hose lines were put in place to protect nearby homes and buildings. After fighting the blaze from the exterior, crews then managed to put out what was left of the fire from inside the garage. It took about 20 minutes to bring the fire under control.
No residents or emergency responders were injured. The fire is still under investigation. Officials say the garage is a total loss and damages is estimated to be $70,000.
