FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Three Fond du Lac men were arrested after a traffic stop resulted in the seizure of illegally possessed firearms, including one which was stolen.
According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, it happened when a 3rd-shift deputy conducted a traffic stop last weekend in the city of Fond du Lac.
Although the driver of the vehicle had a valid carrying a concealed weapon (CCW) permit, he was in possession of a stolen firearm and marijuana, and was subsequently arrested for both offenses.
A passenger who did not possess a valid CCW permit and was out on bail for a criminal traffic offense, battery, and disorderly conduct, was arrested for CCW and bail jumping . A check of his criminal history showed he had previously been arrested for CCW, receiving a stolen firearm, and possession of marijuana. A third passenger who had no criminal history was also arrested for CCW.
All three men are from Fond du Lac and were taken to the Fond du Lac County Jail.
“Deputies work day and night to keep our streets safe and detect and remove illegal drugs and illegally possessed firearms from our communities,” reads a post from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office. “Both firearms will be forensically tested to see if they are linked to other crimes.”
