MADISON, WI (WTAQ) – A Madison laboratory has confirmed it was one of the nine labs which were inadvertently shipped live anthrax spores last week.
BBI Detection was shut down immediately.
The lab was supposed to receive dead anthrax samples. BBI specializes in detection equipment for biological threats. It also makes anthrax detection kits.
The live spores were accidentally shipped from Dugway Proving Ground in Utah. That is a Department of Defense facility.
The Pentagon is reportedly working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to retrieve all of the samples and test them.
