MANITOWOC COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – As the search for three-year-old Elijah Vue hit day 13 Sunday, many questions surrounding his disappearance remain unanswered.
After last being reported seen in Two Rivers on February 20th, both authorities and members of the public haven’t given up on their efforts to find him.
In an update Sunday, Two Rivers police said they focused search efforts on rural areas in Manitowoc County.
On Saturday, the department utilized the Hope Community Church as a space for operations.
Meanwhile, volunteers continue to flock to the Mikadow Theatre in Manitowoc for search assignments, organized by family members.
Community searchers were also checking rural areas like county roads, for any trace of the boy.
Miranda Ritcher and Heidi Berebitsky drove more than two hours Sunday to help.
They recognize that it’s difficult to know exactly what they’re looking for.
“We don’t know the circumstances of why he’s gone so, I mean, he could be literally anywhere, so we have to search everywhere,” said Ritcher, who came from Poynette.
Efforts to locate Elijah are getting more dire as each day passes.
And while people are doing their best to keep hope, they can’t help but worry about the worst possibilities.
“I hate to say it but, I feel like the only way he’d be found alive is if somebody has him, so, and the question is who would have him,” said Berebitsky, who traveled from Milton.
With questions still left unanswered, there’s one thing that’s clear– it’s that people will continue looking until he is found.
