VILLAGE OF ALLOUEZ, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Two people were displaced by a house fire Friday in Allouez caused by unattended candles.
At 7:30 a.m., the Green Bay Metro Fire Department was dispatched to 1331 McCormick Street for a reported structure fire in a single family residence. When crews arrived, they observed smoke coming from an exterior doorway. All occupants self-evacuated and responding companies controlled the fire within 10 minutes.
According to the Fire Marshal’s Office, the fire originated in the family room after unattended candles spread to the interior furnishings. The fire resulted in approximately $10,000 in damages.
No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported. However, two occupants were displaced by the blaze.
“As a friendly reminder, please remember to use candles with care,” GBMFD wrote in a Facebook post. “Blow out candles when you leave the room or go bed and keep candles away from anything that can burn.”
