MARINETTE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Preparations are underway for a weekend show that offers dozens of exhibits and seminars geared toward the outdoor enthusiast.
More than 50 fishing, hunting and camping exhibitors are getting ready for the show inside the Marinette Rec Center. Zak Aubert owns Wind Rose North Outfitters in Menominee, Michigan.
“I’m going to have some kayaks. I have some electronic-powered kayaks. I have trolling motor-powered kayaks. Pedal-drive kayaks. But then also, I’m going to bring some baits that I have in the shop that are popular. And some that we’re going to give a good deal to some of the kids coming through,” said Aubert, Wind Rose North Outfitters owner.
It is the 4th Annual Fishing Boating Outdoor Show. And each year, it’s been held at the Community Rec Center. Organizers say they expect 5,000 people for the three-day event.
“It’s been great, because this actually enables us to have shows like this, and bring everybody here. It’s just a great thing to get together, and enjoy the community, and enjoy the nice center,” said Lacey DeWindt, outdoor show manager.
DeWindt says the schedule includes more than a half-dozen classes, and seminars too.
“Anybody that wants to learn something, or learn about something. Because a lot of times, you don’t know what you don’t know. And this helps you learn a little bit more, and oh, maybe I want to try that, or look into that,” she said.
And while the recent warm weather may only cause a relatively small case of cabin fever, Aubert says that’s okay. He says there’s something here for just about anyone.
“This is just an opportunity to get people to look forward to what’s to come in the summer, and get ready for those paddle sports, and power sports that happen throughout the summer,” he said.
The show begins on Friday at 3 p.m. Adult admission is $8. Kids 12 and under get in for free. There is no charge for parking at the Community Rec Center.
