MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) – A man suspected of wounding a suburban Milwaukee police detective is now charged with robbing a woman at gunpoint three days before the shooting.
20-year-old Najee Harmon is charged with felony armed robbery. He was due in court Tuesday in that case.
Harmon has not been charged in last Friday’s shooting of a Wauwatosa police detective, who was investigating a burglary when he approached the suspect — and was shot. The 52-year-old officer has not been publicly named. At last word, the officer was still hospitalized.
In last Tuesday’s incident, prosecutors said Harmon approached a woman sitting in a car, held a gun to her neck, and demanded money. The woman reportedly gave Harmon her wallet, and he then left in a waiting car.
The driver of that car, 20-year-old Simione Parks, is also charged in the robbery.
On Friday, police said Harmon fled after shooting the detective. A manhunt lasted for over 24 hours before a tip led officers to a north side Milwaukee home where Harmon was arrested.
