MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) – A judge in Milwaukee set a half-million dollar bond Thursday for a man accused of shooting and wounding a Wauwatosa police officer a week ago.
Najee Harmon, who turns 21 Friday, appeared in Milwaukee County Circuit Court on three felony counts of attempted first-degree intentional homicide — plus a charge of illegal firearm possession as a convicted felon.
According to authorities, 3 Wauwatosa officers were investigating a burglary when they spotted Harmon in an apparent stolen car in Milwaukee. The officers surrounded the suspect, who had just entered the car with a woman.
Officials said Harmon tried running away and shot at the 3 officers. Detective Jeffrey Griffin was shot in the pelvic area.
A manhunt for Harmon lasted over 24 hours before he was found hiding in a north side Milwaukee house last weekend.
He’s due back in court a week from Thursday for a preliminary hearing.
