MENOMONIE, WI (WTAQ) – The president of the Menomonie public school board is free on bond, after she appeared in court for allegedly stealing money from her former day job at UW-Stout.
43-year-old Colleen Davis has not been charged yet. She had a bond hearing Monday in Dunn County Circuit Court, after which she posted a $1,000 bond.
Prosecutors said Davis would soon be charged with four felonies and possibly more. Those counts are expected to be filed before her next court appearance, which is set for July 28th.
Davis spent 13 years as the office manager for UW-Stout’s counseling center. An internal audit showed that money was missing, but the university was still trying to figure out how much.
According to WQOW-TV, Davis has reportedly estimated that $20,000 was taken over a period of 6 to 7 years. She’s been fired from her university post.
The Menomonie School District said Davis can keep her post as the school board president at least until her case goes through the court system.
